SOUTHEASTERN THEATRE PRESENTS "ALICE IN WONDERLAND"
HAMMOND Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Music and Dramatic
Arts will bring to the holiday season the most unforgettable characters in the classic English tale
"Alice in Wonderland" November 29 to December 1.
The adaptation of Lewis Carroll's children's classic by Anne Coulter Martens follows a
young girl's journey through a strange, and often comical, land representing her life from
childhood to adulthood. Included in the story are such famous and beloved characters as Alice,
the Mad Hatter, Tweedledee, Tweedledum and the Queen of Hearts.
"Though written specifically for young children, boys and girls of all ages will find this
tale unforgettable and enchanting and be entertained with the zany antics of Carroll's famous
characters," said director Robin Steptoe, a member of the music and dramatic arts faculty.
The all-student cast includes: Natalie Austin of Ponchatoula, doormouse; Brain Baker of
Bremen, IN, executioner; Misty Baker of Amite, Mad Hatter; Emily Caruthers of Denham
Springs, Alice; Billy Collyer of Ponchatoula, Caterpillar; Jonathan Creighton of Metairie, frog
footman; Shawn Curry of Luling, gardner and soldier; Erin DePaula, Hammond, cook; Katherine
Duvic of Mandeville, Queen of Hearts; Sean Gasser of Walker, Gryphon; Jeremy Gorgon of
Loranger, Tweedledum; Rachel Guidry of Lafayette, flower girl and lady of the court; Marcy
Jarreau of Watson, duchess; Kristy LeJuene of Watson, flower girl and lady of the court; Tiffany
Long of Baton Rouge, March Hare; Candace Miller of Hammond, White Rabbit; Texie Pender of
Watson, gardner and soldier; Ryan Peres of Franklinton, knave; Chad Pierce of Plaquemine,
gardner and soldier; David Prejeant of Mandeville, Tweedledee; Michelle Reagan of Mandeville,
courtier; Robin Smith of LaPlace, Cheshire Cat; Kelly Stone of Baton Rouge, flower girl and
lady of the court; Clarence Wethern of New Orleans, King of Hearts; and Jacob Zeringue of
Bogalusa, Humpty Dumpty.
Set designer for "Alice in Wonderland" is Chris Elcher of Bakersfield, Calif., and local
artist Woody Stevens serves as costume designer. Southeastern alumnus Micheal Kramer steps in
as scenic artist and Steve Schepker, department of music and dramatic arts assistant professor, is
technical director.
"Alice in Wonderland" is scheduled for 7 p.m. nightly in the Vonnie Borden Theatre. A
2 p.m. matinee is also scheduled for December 2. Matinee performances for local schools are at
10 a.m. November 29 and 30. Schools interested in attending should contact Steptoe at 985-549-
2045 for tickets and reservation information.
Tickets for all performances will be available at the Vonnie Borden Theatre box office
beginning one week prior to the performances. The box office is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and
again at 6 p.m. on evenings of performances. Tickets are $5 general admission, $3 senior
citizens, faculty and staff, and students. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid
university I.D.
