TECH PRIZE WINNERS -- Southeastern Louisiana University President Randy
Moffett congratulates the winners of high tech prizes in Southeastern’s
recent “Apply Early!” contest. Students who applied for admission to Southeastern
by March 1, 2002 were eligible to win prizes – graphing calculators, $100
bookstore gift certificates, palm pilots and a laptop computer -- donated
by Follet College Bookstore. Winners were announced at the university’s
annual Freshman Hey-Day celebration on Thursday, September 5. From left,

“APPLY EARLY” CONTEST
HAMMOND -- The early bird gets
the worm. That old adage discouraging procrastination has special meaning
for 26 new students at Southeastern Louisiana University.
The students are winners in Southeastern’s
annual “Apply Early!” admissions incentive contest. They were randomly
selected from among 816 of their peers who applied early -- before March
1, 2002 -- for admission to Southeastern for the fall 2002 semester.
The “worms” the students snagged are
high tech prizes – a laptop computer, palm pilots, graphing calculators
and $100 gift certificates – donated by Southeastern’s Follet College
Bookstore.
Winners were announced at the university’s
annual Freshman Hey-Day celebration at the War Memorial Student Union on
Thursday, September 5.
Corey Fletcher of Holden won the laptop
computer, while Palm Pilots went to Kelly Patrick of Madisonville, and
Celest Daigle, Stephanie Kocher and Molly Menke, all of Baton Rouge.
Gift certificate winners were Mary Causey
and Andrea McGee, Hammond; Melvin Stewart, Amite; Andrea Dunigan, Franklinton;
Megan Thomas, Angie, Lori Martin and Joshua Lacroix, Denham Springs; Amanda
Bourquard, Chalmette; Kristi Grace, Plaquemine; and Joseph Benton, Oakland,
Calif.
Winners of graphing calculators were
Bret Hoover, Loranger; Marc Muscarello, Amite; Dena Runyon and Josh Byers,
