SLU TO HOST AUDITIONS FOR GERMAN OPERA
     HAMMOND -- Area professional singers seeking European performance experience are
invited to audition for the Zweigroschen Oper, based in Humbach, Germany, near Munich, Feb.
3 & 4 at Southeastern Louisiana University.
     Marc Andre Angelini, artistic director of Zweigroschen Oper, will auditions singers for
roles in "Rigoletto," "Tosca," "Il Barbiere di Siviglia," and "An Opera Gala," with works
performed in original languages.
     Singers should be prepared to perform two or three arias from standard operatic
repertoire. Those who would like to try for a lead role, however, should include an aria or arias
from the above operas.
     Singers should bring a professional resume and, if possible, an accompanist. A staff
accompanist will be available for a $20 fee and must be requested when making an audition
appointment.

Southeastern's Opera/Music Theatre Program, at 504-549-2336.
     Singers will be given round-trip air fare to Germany  and some ground transportation
within Humbach. Housing in Humbach will also be provided. Singers will be responsible for
their own food and miscellaneous expenses. Rehearsals will begin May 27 and the final
performance will be August 2.
     Performances will be reviewed by local critics and European agents attend the
performances and are available for auditioning singers.
