TV METEOROLOGIST BELLAS TO EMCEE SLU ALUMNI AWARDS EVENING
HAMMOND -- Veteran WDSU-TV anchor and meteorologist Steve Bellas, a 1970
Southeastern graduate, will be the emcee for the Homecoming 1997 Awards Evening, Nov. 21.
Bellas will man the microphone for the gala evening, which will include introductions of
the 1997 Alumnus of the Year, retired Price Waterhouse managing partner Charles O'Drobinak,
and the announcement of the Alumni Association's annual "Past President" and "Distinguished
Service" awards.
Tickets for the banquet, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the SLU University Center, are $15.

Bellas, who has been with WDSU-TV since 1981, has worked extensively in both radio
and television for over 30 years as broadcast talent with both national and regional credits. He
also has vast experience with non-broadcast productions including industrial projects and trade
shows.
In addition to his bachelor's degree in communication from Southeastern Louisiana
University, Bellas has a master's degree in Hammond, an master's degree from the University of
New Orleans, where he received the Best Actor Award from the Drama & Communications
Department in 1973. He also has a Certificate from Mississippi State University's Broadcast
Meteorology Program, and an A.M.S. Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological
Society. He is an adjunct professor of Broadcast News at UNO.
