BLACK HISTORY MONTH ACTIVITIES AT SOUTHEASTERN
     HAMMOND, LA -- Black History Month will be celebrated at Southeastern Louisiana
University throughout the month of February.  The activities began with a Kick-Off celebration
featuring the SLU gospel choir.  Other featured activities during the month include:  
     A Town Meeting on Race Relations, 7pm Tuesday February 10 in the Student Union
Ballroom. The Town Meeting will be a discussion of race relations, facilitated by Dr. Albert
Doucette, Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Kim Hunter, Executive Assistant
to the President Sally Clausen and Lance Hill, executive director of Tulane University's Southern
Institute for Education and Research.
     On Wednesday February 11 11am-1pm, Delta Sigma Theta sorority presents their Black
Enterprise Program, where area business will sell or display their products and speak with
students on what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
     February 16-20 is the Harlem Renaissance Festival with an exhibit of the art of Jacob
Lawrence and Romare Bearden in D Vickers Hall and on Feb. 19 at 3pm in the Music Recital
Hall, Dillard University students will perform works by famous writers of the Harlem
Renaissance.  
     On Monday February 16 Times-Picayune columnist and author Lolis Eric Elie will speak
on Creative Writing in Journalism at 2pm in the Music Recital Hall.
