AUDITIONS SCHEDULED FOR SLU'S "TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL"
     HAMMOND -- Auditions are scheduled Oct. 1 and 2 for "A Trip to Bountiful," which
will be presented by the Southeastern Louisiana University Theatre Nov. 19-23.
     The play by Howard Foote will be directed by Southeastern communication and theatre
professor Charley Vance. Auditions, Vance said, are scheduled at 5 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 7 p.m. on
Oct. 2 in the SLU Student Union Theatre.
     Major characters to be cast include Mrs. Watts, a 70-year-old woman; Ludie,  Mrs. Watts
35-year-old son; Jessie Mae, Ludie's strong-willed wife; Thelma, a sweet pretty blonde, and the
Sheriff, who is 50 years old and kind-hearted.
     Vance said campus and community actors are welcome to audition. He particularly
encourages men to audition, since play has parts for seven male actors. Since several are "non-
speaking" roles or have very few lines, "A Trip to Bountiful" would be a good vehicle for a
novice actor, Vance said.
