SEMINARS TO HELP STUDENTS, ALUMNI PREPARE FOR CAREER FAIR
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University is offering special seminars for
students and alumni to help them tune up their resumes and career etiquette skills in time for the
university's annual Career 2000 Employment Festival.
The annual job fair, scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Sept. 14, at Twelve Oaks, is expected to
be Southeastern's biggest ever and to attract more than 60 employers, including many state,
federal and local agencies. Participating companies and agencies will provide students and
alumni with information on careers and existing and future employment possibilities.
Students and alumni are encouraged to dress appropriately and to have resumes available
should an employer request one for future contact. To help them prepare, Southeastern's Career
Development Services office will hold an job etiquette workshop on Sept. 1 and resume
workshops on Sept. 2 and 8, said Career Development Services Director Sam Domiano.
The workshops will be conducted by Career Development Services Counselor Beverly
Sellers. At the etiquette workshop, scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Student Union Theatre, Sellers
will present "do's and don't's" of professional etiquette, such as dressing for success and
interview techniques. She will guide participants through the resume writing process at the Sept.
2 and 8 workshops, scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Career Development Services conference room
on the second floor of the War Memorial Student Union.
