CERNY LECTURE RESCHEDULED FOR OCT 13 AT SLU
HAMMOND -- JoBe Cerny, may not be a familiar name to television audiences, but his
voice is well known as that of the Pillsbury Dough Boy, and audiences will recognize his face as
the quirky fellow who demonstrates how easy cleaning dirt is in the popular Cheer detergent
commercials.
Cerny will lecture at Southeastern Louisiana University Tuesday, October 13 at 2pm in
the Student Union Theatre. His lecture on creativity is titled, When You Start With Nothing,
You Learn to Appreciate Nothing More. The lecture is free and open to the public. (The lecture
was postponed from an earlier date).
Cerny s lecture is one of over 50 FANFARE events during the month of October.
FANFARE is Southeastern s month-long festival of the arts, featuring music, dance, art, theatre,
film and lectures.
The versatile actor has appeared in 2,500 radio and television commercials. He performed
with Second City s traveling comedy toupe in the early 1970's and he has acted on stage,
television and in movies. He has authored numerous award winning stage plays, written scripts
for industrial films, commercials and motion pictures, and has won a myriad of advertising
awards. Cerny is also the president of Cerny American Creative advertising agency.
The Cerny lecture is sponsored by SLU s College of Business, Arts and Lectures
Committee and FANFARE. For more information call 504-549-2341.
