TICKETS STILL ON SALE FOR SLU'S CHEFS EVENING '98
     HAMMOND -- Tickets are still on sale for Chefs Evening, the Southeastern Louisiana
University Development Foundation's annual food festival gala. 
     Three dozen of the Northshore's best restaurants, wineries and breweries are planning to
serve samples of their finest cuisine at the March 8 fete, scheduled, for the first time, for the
Southeastern University Center.
     The University Center will be transformed into a festive scene from Mexico for this year's
food fest, said coordinator Mary Lou Coats. Members of Southeastern's Guitar Ensemble will
add to the atmosphere with renditions of Latin music.
     Participating restaurants include Hammond's Cafe Ole, Carona's Bakery, Chesterfields,
Cuco's, Don's Seafood & Steakhouse, Gourmet Delight, Jacmel Inn, Jordon on Cate, Lagniappe
Catering, Little Chicago Pizzeria, McAlister's Deli, Mariner's Inn, Murphy's Seafood, Old
McDonald's, Pepper Tree, Piccadilly, Sicily's Pizza, Steve's Custom Catering, TCBY, Tommy's
Pizza, and Trey Yuen.
     From Ponchatoula, restaurants are C'est Bon, D&D Catering, Paul's Cafe, Piero
Ristorante, O'Malley's Bar and Grill. Amite's Blythewood Plantation, Mandeville's Benedict's
and Zazou Cafe will also be on hand, along with Italian Ice from Baton Rouge.
     Beverages will be provided by Amato's Winery in Independence, Hungarian Harvest
Winery in Albany, Covington Coffee Works, Abita Water, and Hammond's Crescent Bar, P.J.'s
Coffee, Red, White & Brew and Champagne Beverage.
     Dishes that Chefs Evening guests can look forward to sampling include crawfish lasagna

CHEFS EVENING TICKETS AVAILABLE -- Add One
 from C'est Bon; fajitas and margaritas from Cuco's; grilled tilapia from Don's Seafood and
Steakhouse; lasagna, spaghetti and pizza from Little Chicago Pizza; barbecued sausage from Old
McDonalds; white beans and rice from Paul's Cafe, and portebello mushrooms from O'Malley's
Bar & Grill. Jordon's on Cate, which will open soon in downtown Hammond, plans to roast a
pig.

     Proceeds from Chefs Evening support Southeastern academic programs.
