CHEFS EVENING 2001 CELEBRATES A "BOUQUET OF FLAVORS"
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's annual food festival and fundraiser,
Chefs Evening, will salute spring with the theme "A Bouquet of Flavors." The popular dinner
party, sponsored by the Southeastern Development Foundation, has been scheduled for 5:30-7:30
p.m. Sunday, April 22, at Twelve Oaks.
Coordinators Mary Lou Coats and Susan Stromberg said more than two dozen of the
north shore's best restaurants, caterers, wineries and breweries are already on the Chefs Evening
menu.
New to the event this year are the Bonfouca Banquet Room in Slidell, the G.W. Nesom
House in Tickfaw, and Hammond's La Rusticana Caf‚ and the Cocoa Bean bakery.
Patrons can also enjoy culinary delights from Hammond's Aramark Classic Fare
Catering, Catfish Charlie's, Crescent Bar, Cuco's, Don's Seafood and Steak House, Garrison's
Global Caf‚, Hon Yum Chinese Restaurant, Jacmel Inn, La Carreta Mexican Restaurant,
Lynnhaven, Murphy's Seafood Restaurant, Picadilly Cafeteria, PJ's Coffee and Tea Co., the
Pepper Tree Grill and Bar, Tommy's Pizza, Tope La, and Trey Yuen. Ponchatoula participants
are C'est Bon Restaurant, Ristorante Da Piero, and Taste of Bavaria Bakery and Restaurant,
while Amite's representative is Blythewood Plantation.
Joining the list from St. Tammany Parish are Mandeville's Benedicts and Cypress Bistro
and Covington's Champagne Beverages.
"...And there will be many more!" said Coats. "We're still adding participants."
Tickets for Chefs Evening are $35 for individuals. For the second year, the gala is also
sponsoring a variety of giving levels for ticket orders which can include the Patron Party, held in
a private home just prior to the big event, and reserved tables.
The Patrons Party, a successful addition to Chefs Evening last year, will be hosted this

year by Johnny Pecoraro, at his restored and beautifully decorated home at 705 West Thomas
Street in Hammond. The party is scheduled for 3:30 to 5 p.m., April 22.
Chefs Evening ticket packages and their rewards are
The President's Medal,$500, eight tickets each to Chefs Evening and the Patrons Party
and a reserved table for eight.
Summa Cum Laude, $330, eight tickets to Chefs Evening and reserved table for eight.
Magna Cum Laude, $130, two tickets each to Chefs Evening and the Patrons Party.
Cum Laude, $65, one ticket each to Chefs Evening and the Patrons Party.
