SLU CHOIRS PLAN CONCERTS IN HAMMOND, COVINGTON
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Concert Choir, the university's
premiere vocal ensemble, will travel to Covington April 28 for a concert at Christ Episcopal
Church.
The 44-voice choir, directed by Southeastern music professor Brad Richmond, will
present the same program April 30 at home in the Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
Both concerts are free and open to the public.
In addition to a program of sacred and secular music including the Mozart Regina Coeli,
Richmond said the choir will debut a new work by Southeastern composer Stephen Suber. The
work is the first motet in Suber's new series "Three Meditations" with text taken from Psalm 131.
The North Shore Choral Society will join voices with Southeastern's University Chorus
for a performance of John Rutter's Gloria at Hammond's First Baptist Church, 401 W. Morris, on
May 6. The free 7:30 p.m. concert, also conducted by Richmond, will include a guest appearance
by the Southeastern Community Music School Children's Chorus, directed by Gina Anthon.
For additional information, call the SLU Music Department, 549-2184.
