CITY COURT REPRESENTATIVE OFFICIALLY WELCOMES NEW SLU
FRESHMEN
HAMMOND -- For the first time ever, Clerk of Court for the City Court of Hammond
Guy Recotta, Jr. addressed a group of new Southeastern Louisiana University freshmen while
attending orientation.
Recotta welcomed the group and informed them about various community laws that will
affect them during their time in Hammond. It is important to follow all speed limits in the city
and use the rule of thumb that 25 mph is the limit unless posted signs indicate otherwise,
Recotta said.
Recotta also informed students of fines that are incurred for parking violations in
Hammond and the area surrounding the university. The city understands that students are on
limited finances, Recotta said. We will work with students to help resolve their problems.
Working toward Judge Grace Gasaway s ongoing plan for community involvement,
Recotta will be addressing the final three orientation sessions.
Southeastern is a great place to attend college and Hammond is a great city in which to
live. Recotta said. We are excited to have you all here and look forward to a symbiotic
relationship while you re attending Southeastern.
The Clerk of Court s office is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday by
calling 542-3455.
