STUDENTS TO GUEST CONDUCT SOUTHEASTERN CONCERT BAND
     HAMMOND -- Six Southeastern Louisiana University music majors will share the
conductor's baton at the Southeastern Concert Band's April 8 concert.
     The free concert, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Pottle Music Building Auditorium, is part of
the Southeastern music department's spring Encore! music series.
     The student conductors are members of Concert Band conductor Frank Dubuy's
advanced instrumental techniques music course. 
     Graduate student Alexandre Reshetnichenko, a graduate student from Kishinev, Moldova,
will conduct Dmitri Shostakovich's "Folk Festival." Graduate student Kristen Kean of
Lexington, Mass., will lead the orchestra's performance of "Aria from Bachinanas Brasileiras
No. 2" by Hector Villa Lobos. Senior Marcia Lyons of Chalmette will conduct Edward Madden's
"Colonial Rhapsody."
     Seniors Matthew McLean and  Joe Daigle of Baton Rouge and Dave Petit of Luling will
each conduct a movement of "An Original Suite" by Gordon Jacob.
     Dubuy, Southeastern's director of bands, will wield the baton for the Concert Band's
performance of "Apocalyps II" by Piet Swerts.
