SBDC SPONSORS SEMINARS FOR CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTORS
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Small Business Development
Center and the Louisiana Department of Economic Development will sponsor a series of free
seminars for construction contractors February 1-March 31.
The free sessions will be held each Monday and Wednesday in the Southeastern
University Center, Room 127. While most classes will last two hours (6:30-8:30 p.m.), four will
be three-hour sessions (6:30-9:30 p.m.) A complimentary light supper will be served at 6 p.m.
before each session. There will be no class on February 15 and 17, because of Mardi Gras
festivities.
The classes have been developed by the Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute to
train and update contractors. Areas to be covered include bonding, estimating and bidding,
planning and organization, financial management, equipment management, contract
management, risk management, Department of Transportation and Development opportunities,
scheduling, safety, general contractors state licensing preparation, written communication,
conflict resolution and contractors exam review.
Contractors who graduate from the course after attending at least 13 of the 16 sessions
may qualify for grant assistance and/or surety bond guarantee assistance.
The Southeastern SBDC encourages all construction contractors to attend the free
seminars. For additional information, call the SBDC at 504-549-3831.
