SLU ANNOUNCES 1999 HOMECOMING COURT
HAMMOND -- Eight Southeastern Louisiana University students have been chosen to
reign over 1999 Homecoming festivities, Nov.15-20, 1999.
Chosen as members of the court were seniors Chantrell Antoine and Alicia Zabala, both
of Kenner, Carolyn Fulton of Reserve, and Chandra D. Stacie of Zachary; juniors Kenya
Jamika Toney of Kenner, LeKedra Ratonya Robertson of Denham Springs and Vanessa Leah
Zeringue of Raceland; and freshman Abi Corban Baker of Hammond.
The 1999 Homecoming queen, the top junior or senior vote-getter in the recent campus
election, will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming basketball game when the Lions take
on Southern University at 2:05 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Southeastern University Center.
The court will also participate in Homecoming festivities such as the Gumbo Ya Ya,
Tons of Fun Food Drive, bonfire and parade, and the Alumni Awards Evening at 7 p.m. Friday,
Nov. 19 in Twelve Oaks. Harold W. Jackson ('56), will be honored as "Alumnus of the Year" at
the festive awards evening.
On Homecoming Day, Saturday, Nov. 20, the court will ride in the 11 a.m. parade
through downtown Hammond and will also attend the free pre-game barbecue and alumni
reunions at the Alumni Center.
Antoine, the daughter of V.L.and Brenda Antoine, is majoring in family and consumer
sciences. She is the sweetheart of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and serves as that sorority's vice-
president. She is the student assistant coach of the track and field team and an aerobic instructor
for recreational sports and wellness. She is graduate of Destrehan High School.

1999 SLU HOMECOMING COURT Add One
Zabala is majoring in athletic training. She is the daughter of Raymond and Judy Zabala.
The sweetheart of Theta Phi Alpha, she is also the sorority's pledge sister educator. She is in the
honors program, is vice-president of the Student Athletic Trainers Association and was featured
in "Who's Who Among College Students." The Bonnabel High School graduate is the Theta Chi
Dream Girl, a member of Gamma Beta Phi, the Order of Omega, and danceworks.
Fulton, the daughter of Donna Lynn and Frances Cogan Fulton Jr., is a social work
major and sweetheart of the Interfraternity Council. She is a member of Theta Phi Alpha and
currently serves as their panhellenic delegate and panhellenic treasurer. She is a member of the
Izzy Moving Dance Company and is the vice-president of danceworks. She is a graduate of
Ursuline High School.
Stacie, a mass communications major, is the sweetheart of Lee Hall, where she is a
resident assistant. She was named resident assistant of the year by the Louisiana Association of
Housing Officials and is the recipient of the Outstanding Young Leader award. The Zachary
High School graduate is a member of the Dream Team, a student ambassador and a 1998
orientation leader.
Toney, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Charles Edward Toney, is majoring in mass
communications. She is the sweetheart of Taylor Hall, where she is a resident assistant. The
Xavier Preparatory High School graduates is the corresponding secretary of Delta Sigma Theta
sorority, a member of the Spanish Club, SLU Gospel Choir and Broadcast Society. She works at
the campus radio station, KSLU, and serves on the campus judicial board.
Robertson, is majoring in social work. The daughter of Pauline Grant Talbert, she is the
sweetheart of Phi Beta Sigma. She serves as president of the Campus Activities Board, and is the
coordinator for the Peer Mentor program. She is a member of Sisterhood, the Black Student
Caucus, the Alcohol Awareness Board, NAACP and Role Model program. She is the recipient of
the African-American Achievement Peer Mentor and Role Model awards. She is a graduate of
Denham Springs High School.

1999 SLU HOMECOMING COURT Add Two
Zeringue, the daughter of Dr. Curtis and Donnell Zeringue, is the sweetheart of the Junior
Class. The political science major is a graduate of Central Lafourche High School. She is the
recruitment chair for Theta Phi Alpha, an Student Government senator and a 1998 orientation
leader. She has been on the dean's list for three years.
Baker, a pre-med/biology major, is the sweetheart of the Dream Team. She is the
daughter of P.J. and Linda Baker. A Hammond High School graduate, she is member of Alpha
Omicron Pi, Delta Omega Alpha Honor Society and Circle K and has been selected as a 1999
orientation leader.
