SOUTHEASTERN'S CHAMBER WINDS TO PERFORM NOV 11
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Chamber Winds ensemble will
present a concert Wednesday November 11 at 7:30 pm in the Pottle Music Building
Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
One of the unique features of the concert will be the premier performance of a
transcription of Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C major. The music was transcribed by music
major Brennan Arceneaux of Hammond. Director Frank Dubuy says this is a one of a kind
performance. "This is a very difficult piece to perform and also to transcribe," said Dubuy. "This
is a fine, talented group of musicians and although this is a hard piece, they do an outstanding job
with it. I think the audience will be delightfully surprised."
The concert will feature soloists Kristen Kean of Hammond, flute, David Petit of Luling,
oboe, and Charlie Forrest of Hammond, alto saxophone.
Petit will perform the first movement of Haydn's Concerto for Oboe; Forrest will perform
Walter Hartley's Quintet for Alto Saxophone and Woodwind Quintet; Kean, a graduate music
student, will perform an unaccompanied flute solo and Matthew McLean of Baton Rouge, and
Arceneaux will perform Arceneaux's duet for trombone and eupohonium.
