CENTRAL AMERICAN PEACE ADVOCATE TO SPEAK AT SLU
HAMMOND -- Fernando Duran-Ayanegui, president of the Oscar Arias Foundation for
Peace and Human Progress, will present at guest lecture at Southeastern Louisiana University on
March 16.
Duran-Ayanegui will speak on "The Process of Peace in Latin America" at 2 p.m. in
room 213 of Southeastern's War Memorial Student Union. His talk is sponsored by the Consul
General of Costa Rica, and Southeastern's College of Arts and Sciences and Department of
Foreign Languages and Literatures.
Duran-Ayanegui is the former president and provost of the University of Costa Rica. He
heads the Arias Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by 1987 Nobel Peace Prize
winner Oscar Arias to promote peace in Central America.
