SLU ECONOMIC SYMPOSIUM FEATURES FEDERAL RESERVE SPEAKER
HAMMOND -- Amy S. Goodman, vice president and assistant branch manager of the
Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will be among the guest speakers at the Southeastern Louisiana
University College of Business' annual economic symposium.
"Prospects for the Future: Will the 'Millennium Bug' Bite?" is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.-
2:30 p.m., Aug. 26, at the Southeastern University Center, Room 133. The symposium is co-
sponsored by Southeastern's Business Research Center and Small Business Development Center
and the Hammond Chamber of Commerce.
The symposium's noon luncheon in University Center Room125 will serve as the
Hammond Chamber's August meeting and will include the presentation of the Small Business
and Small Businessman of the Year awards.
Registration is $15 for those attending the luncheon, free for those attending the sessions
only.
Goodman, who has worked for the Federal Reserve Bank since 1980, is a University of
Southwestern Louisiana graduate and is active in the YMCA and Greater New Orleans division
of the United Way. Her 11 a.m. session will look at how the Federal Reserve and other banks
have prepared for the new millennium.
Local bankers will join Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Y2K expert David Wright
for a panel discussion at 10 a.m. Panel members include Florida Parishes Bank's Fritz W.
Anderson, president and chief executive officer, and Ronnie C. Morales, internal auditor and
compliance officer; Central Progressive Bank President Ronnie Fugarino and First Guaranty
Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Don Ayers.

ECONOMIC SYMPOSIUM Add One
At 1:30 p.m. College of Business Assistant Dean Bobbye J. Davis, General Business
professor Josie Walker and Business Research Center Interim Director Bill Pedersen will detail
their survey on regional perceptions and preparations for the new millennium.
Handouts will include general information on the Y2K problem and specifics on how
small businesses can prepare for the new millennium's challenges.
