SLU COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS TOP STUDENTS
     HAMMOND   Elementary education major Stella Flannery of Mandeville and Sheli
Hughes, a health promotions major from Denham Springs, received the top awards at the
Southeastern Louisiana University College of Education's annual honors convocation April 25.
     Dean Michael Ragan presented Flannery with the Outstanding Student Teacher Award,
while Hughes was named Outstanding Graduate in a Professional Program. Tracey Jane Orser of
Denham Springs received the college's "Outstanding College of Education Junior Award." 
     Flannery was chosen for the Outstanding Student from among six nominees, including
Bonnie Duplechain of Slidell, Chantelle Keating of LaPlace, Catherine Keen of Amite, Sarah
Larsen of Covington and Brandi Reese of Metairie. Aimee Chantelle Ballard of Denham
Springs was also nominated for the Outstanding Graduate in a Professional Program award..
     The College of Education also announced departmental honors and scholarships and new
members of the honor societies Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, the Thirteen Club and Beta
Lambda. 
     Students receiving departmental honors included:
     HAMMOND : Ashley Elizabeth Daussat, Department of Counseling, Family Studies, and
Educational Leadership Pyburn Award; Amy Lynn Levron White, Outstanding Business
Education Student; Reagan S. Battle, Department of Special Education and Communication
Sciences and Disorder's Charles W. Campbell Award; Heather B. Heleniak, Exemplary
Elementary Education Alternate Certification Student.
     PONCHATOULA: Rhonda Lynn Lagarde, Outstanding Senior in English Education; 
Kim B. Russell, Exemplary Secondary Education Alternate Certification Student.
