SLU PARTICIPATES IN "LOUISIANA E-JOBS" ONLINE JOB FAIR
HAMMOND -- Finding a job after college will "go virtual" April 17 when Southeastern
Louisiana University joins other University of Louisiana System institutions in hosting the
system's first electronic job fair.
"Louisiana E-Jobs" will link more than 17,000 ULS students through the Internet to
Louisiana-based companies seeking qualified employees.
Southeastern students and alumni can participate by accessing the virtual fair through the
Louisiana E-Jobs links, which they will find on the university's main page (www.selu.edu) and
Career Development Services web page (www.selu.edu/Career) beginning April 17. E-Jobs will
be online through May 28.
Sam Domiano, director of Admissions and Financial Aid and former head of the
university's Career Development Services, said the Louisiana E-Jobs service is free, easy to use
and accessible 24 hours a day from any computer connected to the Internet.
"Just click on the logo and follow the links," Domiano said.
The Louisiana E-Jobs site is operated by JOBTRAK.COM, which Forbes Magazine has
rated the best site for students and graduates looking for their first jobs or internships.
Participants can browse lists of available jobs as unregistered "guests" or register with
JOBTRAK.COM and put their resume online. An employer does not have access to a resume
unless the participant chooses to submit it to them, Domiano explained. Since it is password
protected, JOBTRAK.COM's database can only be accessed by students and alumni of partner
schools.
In addition to the job listing and resume database, Southeastern participants can also
access JOBTALK message boards, where they can post questions to college counselors and

employers; the Career Contact network, which allows students to find mentors in a diverse
number of career fields; and the Job Search Guide, which includes tips on everything from
writing a resume to negotiating a salary.
Domiano said more than 2,000 letters were mailed to Louisiana employers seeking their
participation. Since March 12, 94 employers have registered for E-Jobs, listing more than 200
job
openings. Employers can register until April 17 and can update job listings throughout the six
weeks of the fair.
"We're very excited about the opportunity this offers our students and alumni," Domiano
said. "Many employees don't attend the individual job fairs at colleges and universities, and
those fairs are usually one-day events. Add in the convenience of being able to participate from
any computer at any time of day, and you realize what a truly terrific program this is.
"E-Jobs will help keep good graduates in our state," Domiano added. "And 90 percent of
those graduates indicated that that's what they want."
For additional information about Louisiana E-Jobs, call Southeastern's Career
Development Center at 985-549-2121. Students with questions about using the service are
welcome to come by the CDC office on the second floor of the War Memorial Student Union for
assistance.
