ST. JOSEPH ABBEY TO BE SITE OF SLU EXECUTIVE MBA PROGRAM
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University s Executive Master of Business
Administration program, a 17-month Master of Business Administration degree program
especially tailored for professionals, will be held on the campus of Saint Joseph Seminary
College, near Covington.
Brad O Hara, director of Southeastern s nationally-accredited MBA program, said
Southeastern has signed an agreement with St. Joseph Seminary College to hold EMBA classes
at the private liberal arts institution, operated by the Benedictine monks of Saint Joseph Abbey
and located on 1,200 acres north of Covington.
We wanted a serene and secluded place where our participants, all of them busy,
motivated, experienced business people, will be able to wind down and focus, O Hara said.
The Abbey s excellent facilities and scenic surroundings make it an ideal setting for adult
learning.
O Hara said EMBA classes will meet in Borromeo Hall, where Southeastern will install
wiring and technology to link computers to the university s library system. This will provide
online access to the World Wide Web and the university s collection of more than 350,000
volumes, O Hara said.
St. Joseph Seminary College is pleased to be the location for this program, said the
Rev. Gregory Boquet, OSB, St. Joseph s president-rector. We feel our facilities will enhance the
program and, in turn, that Southeastern s presence here will benefit our institution.
Southeastern has long enjoyed an informal association with St. Joseph Seminary College.
University faculty have taught seminary courses and the Abbey has been the site of Southeastern
planning retreats and concerts.

successful managers, supervisors, administrators, professionals or entrepreneurs with bachelor's

EMBA students will take 11 graduate courses over 17 months, attending class on

Southeastern and adjunct faculty selected for their ability to teach mature, experienced adults.
The 11 courses will challenge students with current, critical business issues and skills in
areas such as managerial economics, marketing, financial management, management information
