SOUTHEASTERN'S "ENCORE! 2000"  PERFORMANCES ANNOUNCED 
     HAMMOND   Guest artists, student and faculty instrumental, vocal and opera
performances make up this season's Encore! schedule at Southeastern Louisiana University.
     Baritone James Westman, cited as "one of Canada's most promising opera singers" and
winner of the prestigious George London Award, will perform February 7. Tickets are $5, free
for Southeastern students. 
     Additional  guest performers include guitarists Jose Aria of the University of Costa Rica,
who will perform April 25, and Chris Buckley of Delgado University, who will perform
February
14.  Eastman School of Music violinist  Ilya Kaler, who was the only violinist to win the Gold
Medal in the Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, and Paganini international competitions, will perform April
11 and Oklahoma State faculty duo of Jonathan Keeble, flute, and Tom Lanners, piano, will
perform January 24. 
     Also on the "Encore!" schedule are performances by student ensembles and
Southeastern's Opera-Music Theatre.
     Unless otherwise indicated, "Encore!" concerts are free and are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in
the Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
JANUARY
  Jan. 22: Southeastern Opera-Music Theatre Workshop: Little Red Riding Hood, 1 p.m. and
3:p.m., Pottle Music Building Auditorium. $1 general admission. Tickets available at door.
  Jan. 24: Guest Artists: Jonathan Keeble and Tom Lanners, recital of music for flute and piano.
(Co-sponsored by Arts and Lectures and the College of Arts and Sciences).
FEBRUARY
  Feb. 2: Faculty Recital: Stephen Rushing, baritone 
  Feb. 7: Guest Artist: James Westman, baritone, with Henry Jones, piano. (Co-sponsored by the
Marilyn Horne Foundation, Arts and Lectures and the College of Arts and Sciences).
  Feb. 8: Faculty Recital: Willis Delony, piano 
  Feb. 14: Guest Recital: Chris Buckley, guitar      
  Feb. 17: Faculty Recital: Frankie Kelly, clarinet
   Feb. 27: Faculty Recital: Emily Truckenbrod, soprano
  Feb. 2: SLU Guitar Ensemble: Pat Kerber, director

  March 1: Faculty Recital: Kristen Kean, flute
  March 1: SLU Wind Symphony: Glen Hemberger, conductor
  March 29, 30, 31: SLU Opera-Music Theatre: Puccini's Suor Angelica and Gustav Holst's
Savitri. Tickets, $5, SLU students free
APRIL 
  April 3: Faculty Recital: Bryan DePoy, trumpet, with assisting guest artist Luis Engelke. (Co-
sponsored by Arts and Lectures and the College of Arts and Sciences).
   April 10: SLU Jazz Ensemble: Willis Delony, director
  April 11: Guest Artists: Ilya Kaler, violin with Henry Jones, piano. (Co-sponsored by Arts and

  April 24: SLU Guitar Ensemble:  Pat Kerber, director
