SPOOKY FORBIDDEN THEATRE HALLOWEEN SHOW RISES AGAIN
HAMMOND -- The hundreds of people who were turned away at the door for the
Forbidden Theatre Halloween Show featured during Fanfare 1999 will have a second chance to
attend a new and more improved version of the show at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30 and Tuesday,
Oct. 31 at Southeastern Louisiana University's Student Union Theatre.
The show is being sponsored this year by 90.9 KSLU. General Manager Wayne Cain
said he hopes to make the Forbidden Theatre Halloween Show an annual event, and that this
year's show features several improvements.
"First of all, there are a lot more seats," Cain said. "We held the show in a much smaller
venue last year, added a second show, then still ended up turning people away when that one
quickly sold out too."
Other additions to the 2000 version include Southeastern adjunct professor Cheryl
Frederic as director. "She directed the wildly funny 'Complete Works of William
Shakespeare-Abridged' here at Southeastern a couple of years ago, and was excited to get the
chance to work with some of the former cast members again. Plus, she has an appreciation for the
bizarre," said Cain.
Again this year, Cain said, with tongue-in-cheek caution, the safety of the audience
cannot be guaranteed. "There are rumors that another zombie attack could be in the making. Last
year, you'll remember, famed New Orleans TV horror show host Morgus the Magnificent warned
that Forbidden Theatre was attempting to 'break all the laws of physics' and to raise the dead.
Well, we're sorry to say, they're up to it again. We're advising everyone not to put themselves or
the ones they love in jeopardy by attending this dark comedy Halloween show."
Cast members include Phil Sevin, Michael Libersat, Corbett Mount, Jacob Zeringue,
Danny Trentacosta, and Misty Pelas. Local artist Woody Stevens is serving as set designer, and
theater student Jonathan Majoue is lighting designer.
Tickets are $3 for SLU students and the public, and seating is general admission.
Reservations will be taken at 549-2330 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct.. 23-27. Tickets will go
on sale in the Student Union Theater box office one half hour before each show.
