GLASS BLOWING EXHIBIT AT SOUTHEASTERN NOV. 10
HAMMOND -- Artists from New Orleans' Studio Inferno will demonstrate the art of
glass blowing at Southeastern Louisiana University on Friday, November 10.
Don Marshall, director of the Visual Arts Department's Clark Hall Gallery, said the
demonstration will mark the closing of "Fire: Louisiana Hot Glass," the exhibit of Louisiana
blown glass artists featured at the gallery and Sims Memorial Library during Fanfare.
Marshall said the Studio Inferno artists will set up their glass blowing kiln in the area
behind Clark Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is welcome to come watch the artists at
work, he said.
They also will have one last chance to view "Fire: Louisiana Hot Glass," which will close
on Nov. 10. Clark Hall Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The exhibit features more than
20 of Louisiana's finest glass blowing artists. Some of their works are also on display in Sims
Memorial Library.
Marshall said area high school students will be among those to view the Studio Inferno
artists at work. The visual arts department is hosting its annual high school workshop day on
Nov. 10.
Students from Mandeville High School, Bogalusa High School, St. Scholastica Academy,
the Tangipahoa Parish Gifted and Talented Program and Pearl River High School will visit
Southeastern visual arts classes throughout the day.
Marshall said the glass blowing demonstration is being sponsored by Fay Bright and Guy
Recotta Jr., who also sponsored "Fire: Louisiana Hot Glass."
For additional information about the demonstration, call the visual arts department at
