SLU SBDC HOSTS WORKSHOP ON DOING BUSINESS WITH THE FEDS
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Small Business Development
Center and the Southeast Resource Center will sponsor a workshop on marketing to the world's
largest customer -- the federal government -- June 29 in Denham Springs.
"Targeting Federal Agencies," scheduled for 9-11 a.m. at the Dixie Development Center,
will show small businesses how they can earn part of the $165 billion a year spent by the federal
government for products and services. "Understanding and Responding to Government
Solicitations," set for 1-3:30 p.m., will clarify the process of bidding on a government project.
The cost to attend is $20 per session or $30 for both. Registration is limited and pre-
registration is required to ensure availability of handouts, seating and refreshments.
The first session will cover topics such as how to find who buys what you sell, how to get
on a bidder's mailing list, Central Contractor Registration, different buying systems, procurement
"tools" and the Small Business Administration's ProNet data base.
The second session will cover types of government solicitations/thresholds, solicitation
contents, Federal Acquisition Regulations, how to formulate a winning response, checklists and
rules and the language of the government customer.
To register or for more information, call the SBDC at 504-549-3831.
