GOVERNOR FOSTER TO ADDRESS THE AREA APRIL 7
     HAMMOND -- Governor Mike Foster will detail his legislative initiatives on education
and business development at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, at Southeastern Louisiana
University's Twelve Oaks Dining Hall (500 W. Texas Ave., Hammond).
     The event is co-sponsored by the Southeastern Community Advisory Council, the
Southeastern Student Government Association and a consortium of north shore chambers of
commerce. Participating chambers include Hammond, Independence, Kentwood, Amite,
Bogalusa, Denham Springs, Franklinton, Greater Slidell Area, Madisonville, Ponchatoula
and St. Tammany West. Representatives from all college and university student government
associations are also expected to attend.
     "The Governor's presence in our region is very important and we are very excited to host
an event of this magnitude," T. Jay Seale III, chairman of the Community Advisory Council,
said. "The north shore community is working together to bring Governor Foster's message to all
of our citizens."
     Foster will discuss issues facing the legislature during the session which runs from March
29 - June 21, 1999.
     The public is invited to attend, and there will be an opportunity for citizens to direct
questions to Governor Foster.
