DANCEWORKS HOSTS GRADUATES' MODERN DANCE CONCERT
HAMMOND -- Danceworks, Southeastern Louisiana University's resident dance
company, will sponsor a special concert by danceworks alumnus Lillian Gray of Slidell at 7 p.m.,
Thursday, January 27 in Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
Titled "Tables, Chairs and Love Songs," the concert will feature Gray's dance company,
Grey Lillies. The modern dance company includes approximately 18 Southeastern student
dancers, Gray said.
Tickets for the concert are $5 general admission, $3 all students and senior citizens, and
are available at the door and at Lemoine Academy of Dance, 310 N. Cate St., Hammond,
504-345-9311.
Gray, a December 1999 Southeastern graduate, said that the concert will showcase her
undergraduate choreography as well as new works. Some of the dances, she added, will feature
"creative use of furniture."
In addition to the evening performance, Gray also plans to offer performances for area
schools at 10 a.m. and noon on Friday, January 28. Schools interested in participating can call
her at 504-542-1588.
Gray was a member and choreographer for danceworks from 1996-99. Her choreography
was featured for the past three years at the American College Dance Festival and at the
Contemporary Arts Center's "DramaRama" festival and the Loyola Showcase in 1997 and 1998.
For additional information, call Southeastern dance program director Martie Fellom at
504-549-2133.
