STAR
STUDENT
Jody Grippo
Arts and Sciences
If you ask Jody Grippo to name the best thing
Southeastern has to offer, she won't hesitate to reply. "The professors." Her favorite ones? "I'd
have to name a million," mused the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Award winner.
"Let's see, Jeanne Gillespie, Eva Gold, Marjorie Rhine, Carole McAllister...the list would
go on and on. But those teachers really went out of their way for their students. They really cared
and dedicated themselves completely to students," Grippo said. "That's one thing I will miss, the
teachers and close atmosphere at Southeastern."
Grippo, who will graduate this fall with an anticipated 4.0, is headed to law school next
year. For now, the Pontchatoula resident is saving money for law school while working as a
receptionist at Neill Corporation in Hammond. The perfect grade point average did not come
easy
for the woman who said she sometimes didn't do her homework in high school. But her
determination paid off in the long run."I worked really hard my first semester and got a 4.0, so I
decided to keep it," Grippo explained.
The Dean's Award for the College of Arts and Sciences was shared by Grippo and Rebecca
Sherman of Amite, who also attained a perfect grade point average.
