SLU GOLDEN SILENCE TO HONOR MORE THAN 70 DECEASED MEMBERS OF
SOUTHEASTERN FAMILY
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University will call the names of more than 70
alumni, students, faculty, staff and family members who have died during the past year at the
university's annual Golden Silence ceremony.
The public is invited to the candlelight ceremony, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Thursday,
April 5, in the Student Union Park.
President Sally Clausen will join Student Government Association President Cleve
Bankston in lighting a large memorial candle. As the "memorial roll call" is read by Provost
Randy Moffett and vice presidents Joe Miller, Stephen Smith and Brad O'Hara, participants will
light their own candles from the large one.
The brief program also will feature a performance of the university's alma mater by
Lindsey Dykes, a nursing major from Baton Rouge, and a rendition of "Taps" by Patti Cannon, a
music education major from Denham Springs. Students from Hammond High School will form
the flag color guard.
For additional information about Golden Silence, call the Southeastern Alumni
Association, 549-2150 or 1-800-SLU-ALUM.
