SLU SBDC HOSTS "HOW TO START A BUSINESS"
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Small Business Development Center,
Dixie Business Development Center, the Hammond Chamber of Commerce and the Tangipahoa
Economic Development Foundation are co-hosting special seminars on "How to Start a
Business" and
"Payroll Taxes and Employment Laws."
The seminars will be presented on Wednesday, Oct. 27, in Room 203-B of the Southeastern
University Center on University Ave., in Hammond and will be repeated on Nov. 3 at the Dixie
Business Development Center, 1810 South Range Ave., in Denham Springs.
The Payroll Taxes and Employment Laws" seminar will be presented from 2-4 p.m., while the
"How to Start a Business" session is scheduled from 6-8 p.m.
The Payroll Taxes and Employment" seminar will address topics such as calculating payroll
taxes, completing all necessary forms, employment laws and their effect on payroll, and new
issues in employment law.
"How to Start a Business" will detail the issues involved in starting a small business from
conception to opening doors for business. Speakers will include a banker, lawyer, certified public
accountant and Small Business Development Center staff members.
The cost to attend each seminar is $10 per person. Pre-registration and pre-payment are
requested, since seating is limited. The payroll taxes seminar participants will receive handout
materials and refreshments will be provided..
