HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana
University music students recently brought home statewide honors.
Hristo Birbochukov, a graduate student
from Haskovo, Bulgaria, won the 2003 Young Artists Competition sponsored
January 18 by the Monroe Symphony League and the Monroe Symphony

As a competition winner, Birbochukov

the Southeastern Chamber Orchestra on March 26.
Birbochukov is a student of Southeastern

five and is a graduate of the State Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Six members of the Southeastern Wind

in the 2003 Louisiana Intercollegiate Band, an ensemble comprised of the
state’s finest collegiate musicians.
Charles Arnold of Slidell, trumpet,
and Tony Wolfe of Baton Rouge, tuba, were selected as principal players
in the prestigious ensemble. Also chosen to participate were Linsday Beasley,
