SLU SBDC HOSTS EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT SERIES         
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Small Business Development
Center will host a five-part series on managing employees on Thursdays, Aug. 21-Sept.18.
     "Finding and Hiring the Right People," scheduled from 8 a.m.-noon, Aug. 21, at the SLU
University Center , will kick off the Human Resource Management Series. The series will
continue each Thursday morning through Sept. 18.
     Cost is $30 per session, $25 for each additional person from the same company. For all
five sessions, the cost is $125. Those attending the entire series will earn a certificate in Small
Business Human Resource Management.
     "After surveying the needs of hundreds of small business owners throughout the Florida
Parishes, it became obvious that human resource issues were, by far, the top priority," said Dedra
Fourmaux, SBDC Training Coordinator.
     She said "Finding and Hiring the Right People" will focus on writing and analyzing job
descriptions, methods of finding good applicants, screening applicants, and effective and legal
interviewing techniques.
     Future topics include Getting the Most from Your Employees, Workplace Regulations,
Compensating Your Employees, and Employee Development and Training.
     Pre-registration is required and seating is limited. Extensive handout materials and
refreshments will be available at each seminar.
