ILLINOIS TRIO PERFORMS FREE CONCERT AT SLU FEB 2
HAMMOND --The Illinois Trio will perform at Southeastern Louisiana University Tuesday
Feb 2 at 7:30 pm in the Pottle Music Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
The trio includes former Louisiana resident J. David Harris, clarinet, Nancy Ambrose King,
oboe and Timothy S. McGovern, bassoon.
Harris, who performed with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra for six seasons as
principal clarinet, is a former faculty member at LSU. He also has appeared as soloist with the
Baton Rouge Symphony, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Sinfonia da Camera, and as guest
principal clarinet with the Knoxville Symphony. Harris has been a featured performer for the
International Clarinet Society Congress, Clarinetwork International and the International Double
Reed society in Manchester, England. During the summer months Harris serves as principal
clarinet with the Great Music Festival of the West Orchestra.
King has performed extensively in the United States, Europe and Asia, including the People's
Republic of China, South Korea, France, Germany and Austria. She has appeared as a soloist
with the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, as well as with the Lake Placid
Sinfonietta, and the Greeley (Colorado) Philharmonic Orchestra. Currently principal oboist of the
Sinfonia da Camera and Champaign-Urbana Symphony, King has performed in the Los Angeles
Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Detroit Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, as
well as serving as principal oboe of the Heidelberg Opera Orchestra in Germany and both the
Greeley and Colorado Symphonies.
McGovern, was associate principal bassoon of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, principal
bassoon of the Montreal Symphonette and McGill Chamber Orchestra and was on faculty at
McGill University in Quebec. He is the recipient of two Tanglewood Fellowships and winner of
two major solo competitions. He has taught asa concert and jazz band director at state
universities in Minnesota and Delaware. McGovern currently serves as principal bassoon in the
Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Champaign-Urbana Symphony and Sinfonia da Camera.
