SLU'S CLARK HALL HOSTS "INSPIRATION" EXHIBIT
HAMMOND -- "Inspiration," an exhibit of works by 50 Louisiana African-American
artists, will be displayed Aug. 23-Sept. 24 at Southeastern Louisiana University's Clark Hall
Gallery.
The exhibit features contemporary works based on and inspired by the traditional African
artworks in the collection of Southeastern University-New Orleans (SUNO).
The exhibit will open with a reception from 3-5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Clark Hall
Gallery.
Clark Hall Gallery and Fanfare Interim Director Don Marshall is co-curator of the exhibit
with Sara Hollis, chairman of the Department of Fine Arts and Philosophy at SUNO. Marshall
said the exhibit's purpose is to establish a connection between and to promote understanding of
traditional African and contemporary African American art.
The exhibit previously has been displayed at the Contemporary Arts Center in New
Orleans and at Louisiana State University.
Clark Hall Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m., weekdays. For additional information, call
