SLU INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT REACCREDITED
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Industrial Technology Department
has been reaccredited by the National Association of Industrial Technology.
     First accredited in 1985, Southeastern is one of only 40 colleges and universities in the
United States to have received NAIT accreditation. Dr. James R. Owens, head of the department,
said the NAIT accreditation board voted unanimously to award full accreditation for another six
years.
     Owens said Southeastern's program was commended "the excellent relationship that
exists between the students, faculty, staff and administrators at SLU" and for  it's special
Industrial Advisory Council. 
     The industrial technology department received the 1995 "Significant Merit Recognition"
award from the Greater Baton Rouge "Total Quality Management" recognition program,
sponsored by the City of Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, Uniroyal Chemical Co. and
Dow Chemical Co.
     The department also will award its first South Central Bell Endowed Professorship in
Industrial Technology next fall.
