"LOUISIANA LANDSCAPES" ON EXHIBIT AT SOUTHEASTERN

HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Clark Hall Gallery has the
"Louisiana Landscapes" Exhibit on display now through September 26. The exhibit consists of
paintings and drawings by ten contemporary Louisiana Artists.
The artists were originally commissioned by Southeastern's Louisiana Literature
Magazine for their "Louisiana Garden and Nature Writing" issue. The project is supported in part
by the Louisiana State Arts Council, the Louisiana Division of the Arts and by the Arts Council
of Greater Baton Rouge. Those commissioned works and additional works on the same theme
are included in the exhibit.
Southeastern art faculty members Gail Hood of Covington and Barbara Tardo of Folsom
are among the featured artists. Other artists featured are: Ron Bechet and Simon Gunning of
New Orleans, Emery Clark and Roy Pfister of Mandeville, Rolland Golden of Folsom, Bill Iles
of Lake Charles, Elemore Morgan of Lafayette and Libby Johnson of Baton Rouge.
Also on exhibit in September is a collection of Alumni Art from the College of Arts &
Sciences, Contemporary Chinese Paintings and works by Scottish artist Elaine Shemilt.
The alumni art, which was bought from senior exhibits for the past three years, is on
display in the Sims Memorial Library. The Chinese Paintings, also on exhibit in the Sims Library
are by artist Wan Ding. Prints, photographs and mixed media are included in the works of Elaine
Shemilt, an artist-in-residence at Southeastern this past summer.
Southeastern's Clark Hall Gallery is open 8:00 am-4:00 pm Monday through Friday. For
