Nursing Dean's Award recipient Kathleen LeBlanc
had one thing to say when asked about her new career. "I love my patients," she said. She is
currently employed at Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge, where she cares for sick pregnant
women.
When reflecting on her Southeastern days , LeBlanc fondly remembers the campus. "I
enjoyed the atmosphere of Hammond and all the trees on campus. I guess I kind of missed the
Hammond campus when I started in Baton Rouge," she said. "But it's nice having a paycheck
and
I don't miss studying."
And when it comes to studying, the School of Nursing's top graduate admits she did little
of it until arriving here. "In high school my GPA was not that good, because I was too interested
in having fun. When I realized what I wanted to do, I got serious in college and it was very
challenging," she said.
One reason for her motivation and success may have been the outstanding nursing faculty. "We
have many really good nursing instructors who care about students and are concerned about their
progress. Although there's still a lot to learn, Southeastern prepared me well for what I do,"
LeBlanc said.
