SLU'S LEGGWORKS DEBUTS
HAMMOND LEGGworks, Southeastern Louisiana University's newest dance
organization, will perform it's first concert, "Move It", Thursday, September 2 at the Pottle
Music Auditorium. The 7:30 p.m. program will cost $3 for general admission and $2 for
Southeastern students.
"Move It" will feature choreography by LEGGworks artistic director Dana Brewer,
Southeastern dance program director Martie Fellom and Southeastern students. Fellom's
choreography is her adaptation of a tap piece by Bob Audi.
Student choreographers, who will also perform, are Sharon Larroux, Metairie; Donya
Chavanel, LaPlace; Heather Breland, Abita Springs; Heather Brooks, Slidell, and Jeanne
Labourdette, Chalmette.
Also performing are Caree Hawkins, Covington; Grace Latino, Metairie; Carolyn Fulton,
Reserve; Leslie Kernan, Prairieville; Laura Read, Belle Chasse; Michelle Cudd, Hammond;
Heather McLain, Husser and Melissa Mann, Destrahan.
LEGGworks Jazz Dance Company displays jazz, modern jazz and tap dancing. Auditions
for the organization are held in the spring, and rehearsals take place during the summer. The
dance company is open to students and members of the community who are 15 years of age or
older. Those interested in joining can contact Dana Brewer in Room 153 of the Kinesiology and
Health Studies Building or call 549-5254.
