SLU LIBRARY PLANS "LIBRARY FAIR" AUG. 20
HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's Sims Memorial Library will host a
"Library Fair," Aug. 20, designing to help campus and community patrons "hit the ground
running" for the upcoming school year.
The day-long fair will feature library tours and "practical and informational"
presentations on topics such as designing effective library assignments; using the World Wide
Web as an information source; reference and research assistance; and finding and using
government/statistical information.
"Whether you've got 15 minutes or two hours to spare, there will be lots of information
available to help you become a more informed teacher, researcher and citizen," said User
Education Librarian Laverne Simoneaux, chairman of the Library Fair.
Library tours are scheduled at 9 and 11 a.m. and at 1 and 3 p.m. Information stations will
be available throughout the building and refreshments will be served.
"The 'Information Age' is here and nowhere is that fact more in evidence that at the
modern library," said Library Director Kay Adams. "Every time you blink, new and exciting
sources of information are available. The most successful people in life are those who have the
best information. The Library Fair will be a great first step to a productive new year."
