LOVE LETTERS READ AT SLU S SUMMER THEATRE PRODUCTION
     Editors Please Note Local Interest
HAMMOND -- A.R. Gurney s play Love Letters will be presented at Southeastern
Louisiana University as their summer theatre production in the Vonnie Borden Theatre July
16-
18 and July 23-25, at 7:30 p.m.
The play will be directed by Southeastern faculty Kay M. Files and will feature two
alternating casts which includes recent theatre graduate Jason Buuck of Slidell with Cherie
Maurer of Independence and Beau Allulli of Hammond with Christina DeRosier of Husser.

Gary Mendoza of Slidell will be technical director and Angela Fontenot of Denham
Springs will be assistant director/stage manager.
Love Letters is a unique theatre piece which is comprised of letters exchanged over a
lifetime between two people who grew up together and went their separate ways, but
continued
to share confidences, experiences and love throughout their lives.
The play follows the lives of Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardiner, both
born to wealth and position. They are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins
with birthday party thank-you notes and summer postcards. They exchange letters throughout
their years in boarding schools, college, war time, good and bad marriages and good and bad
times.

In Andy s last letter he makes it clear to Melissa how much they have given to each other
over the years, and even though physically apart, spiritually they are as close as only true
lovers
can be.
In the play, the actors read the letters aloud, and create an evocative, touching and funny
evening of theatre.
All tickets will be general admission and will cost $5, $3 for senior citizens, SLU faculty
and staff and free for all Southeastern students with a valid ID.
Tickets may be reserved beginning July 6 by leaving a message at 504-549-3546. Tickets
may also be purchased on the night of the performance, when the box office opens at 6 p.m.
