SOUTHEASTERN TO START OFFERING COURSES IN MADISONVILLE

HAMMOND - Southeastern Louisiana University will begin offering courses next
semester at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum in Madisonville.
Initially two history courses will be offered at the museum in the Spring 2002 semester
with the intent of increasing the number of courses available at the facility in the near future. The
two courses offered are Louisiana History (History 321, Section 51X) being taught by
Southeastern Professor C. Howard Nichols from 6 - 9 p.m. Wednesdays, and Oral History
Techniques (History 488) being taught by Instructor Daniel Clark from 2 - 5 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Registration for the courses is still open, and applications from new students are still
being accepted. For more information, call Records and Registration at 985-549-2062 or
1-800-222-SELU.
Southeastern currently offers an extensive array of courses at the St. Tammany Center
located on Koop Drive between Mandeville and Abita Springs.
"The Maritime Museum offers us another location in St. Tammany Parish where
Southeastern can provide additional educational and cultural programming for students and the
general public," said Interim Provost John Crain. "Our partnership with the museum further
enhances Southeastern's role as Louisiana's university of the north shore."
Through its partnership with the Maritime Museum, Southeastern is providing assistance
in a variety of areas, including exhibition design, grant writing and educational outreach
programs.
