TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE DUBUTS AT SLU
     HAMMOND -- In celebration of Mathematics Awareness Week, April 20-27,
the Southeastern Louisiana University's mathematics and development education
departments will host the first SLU Mathematics Technology Conference from 8:30
a.m.- noon on April 20. 
     The conference sessions will provide ideas for middle, secondary and college
mathematics teachers for implementing cooperative learning, manipulatives and
technology in their classrooms. Presentations will include workshops on Derive, TI-82,
LOGO and Geometer's Sketchpad.
     Teachers from schools in the surrounding parishes have been invited to share the
day with other educators interested in implementing technology into the classroom. The
