SLU GRADUATE STUDENT WINS STATE VIOLIN COMPETITION
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University graduate student Miroslav Hristov
has won first place in the strings category of the state Music Teachers National Association
Collegiate Artists Competition.
     Hristov, a native of Stara Zagova, Bulgaria, who is studying with Southeastern violin
professor Yakov Voldman, will advance to a five-state regional competition at the University of
Oklahoma in January.
     The state competition was held Oct. 31 at McNeese State University during the Louisiana
Music Teachers Association state convention.
     Hristov performed works by Shostakovich, Franck, Bach and the Bulgarian composer
Vladigerov.
