LINDSEY HUNTER DYKES WINS 2002 MISS SOUTHEASTERN CROWN
HAMMOND -- Lindsey Hunter Dykes, a senior nursing major from Baton Rouge, has
been chosen Miss Southeastern 2002.
Dykes receives her crown from Miss Southeastern 2001, Jessica Marie Young of
Franklinton, at the annual pageant February 21 at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts.
The daughter of Marilyn and Ken Dykes, Dykes won the evening wear and talent
segments of the pageant and tied for first place in the personal interview segment with first
runner-up Heather Nicole McLain, a junior psychology major from Husser. For the talent
segment, Dykes sang "Time" from "Beauty and the Beast."
The second runner-up award went to sophomore elementary major Angela Marie Pizani
of Franklinton. Sophomore psychology major Shannon Marie Brewer of LaPlace took the
swimsuit title, while senior speech communications major Chandra Illyria Sanders of
Prairieville was named "Miss Congeniality."
Dykes will advance to the Miss Louisiana pageant, which will be held in Monroe on June
15.
