SOUTHEASTERN DANCERS PRESENT “MOSAIC” AT FINE ARTS CENTER
HAMMOND -- Students from Southeastern
Louisiana University’s Izzy Moving Dance Theatre will present an original
dance concert, “Mosaic,” November 7, 8 and 10 at the New Orleans Fine Arts
Center, 1733 Constantinople.
“‘Mosaic’ will be an entertaining
jazz piece to the music of Aretha Franklin as well as a sometimes humorous
modern piece set to bluegrass music,” said Dana Brewer-Plazinic, artistic
director, choreographer and Southeastern dance faculty member.
Brewer-Plazinic adds the concert
is more suitable for adolescents and adults rather than small children.
“The show encompasses such a
variety of music and movement that everyone who attends is sure to find
enjoyment,” she said.
Performers are Heather Brooks
of Slidell, Leslie Comeaux and Jeanne Labordette of Violet; Cheryl Arnett,
Patience Impson, Martinique Perkins, Peter Simon, and Leslie Smith of Baton
Rouge; Lesley Kernan of Prairieville, Jessica Lee of Kentwood, Ladazha
Moll of Gonzales; and Jarrod Cashe and Greta Sharp of Hammond.
Performance times are 7:30 p.m.
November 7 and 8 and 4:30 p.m. November 10.
“Mosaic” is sponsored by Southeastern’s
Department of Music and Dramatic Arts and is made possible by a grant from
the university’s Center For Faculty Excellence.
Admission is $8, $6 for students
and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling Brewer-Plazinic
at 985-549-5254. |
