ERIN COLLEEN LYONS NAMED MISS SOUTHEASTERN 2000
HAMMOND -- Erin Colleen Lyons, a senior marketing major from Baton Rouge, has
been chosen Miss Southeastern 2000.
Lyons received her crown from Miss Southeastern 1999, Lindsey Renee King of Slidell,
at the annual pageant February 24 at Southeastern's Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
Approximately 15 former Miss Southeasterns attended the annual pageant, a preliminary to the
Miss America contest, as part of Southeastern's year-long celebration of its 75th Anniversary.
The daughter of Jan and Murray Hebert, Lyons also won the swimsuit and eveningwear
segments of the pageant and was among a three-way first place tie for the interview segment. For
the talent segment, she danced to "Memories" from the musical "Cats."
First runner-up was Jessica Young, a junior majoring in elementary education from
Franklinton, while the second runner-up award went to Heather McLain, a junior psychology
and communication major from Husser. Young was also was an interview segment winner
Lindsey Dykes, a sophomore nursing major from Baton Rouge, won the talent segment,
singing the song "Honey Bun" from "South Pacific." The "Miss Congeniality" title went to
Monique Larre, a sophomore marketing major from Metairie. Amanda Guitreau, a junior
communication major from Livingston, was also an interview segment winner.
Lyons will advance to the Miss Louisiana pageant, which will be held in Monroe later
this year.
