SLU INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS WIN AT NAIT CONVENTION
     HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University's student chapter of the National
Association of Industrial Technology have again brought home honors from the association's
national convention.
     Sixteen members of Southeastern's chapter attended the conference in Indianapolis, Ind.
Gabe Gorenflo of Baton Rouge took first place in the "IT/IQ Quiz Bowl," while Steve Larson of
Amite was second. Southeastern students won first and third places in the same competition at
last year's convention.
     Sherri Fisher of Hammond concluded her two-year appointment to the NAIT
Accreditation Board and served on the Outstanding Student Chapter Award committee. 
     Several other Southeastern students served on NAIT Student Division committees
charged with planning events for next year. Gina Kay Gorenflo of Baton Rouge, Fred Borstel of
Springfield and Derek Jensen of Baton Rouge were members of the Industrial Tours/Social
Activity committee, while Gabe Gorenflo, Mike Kinney of Amite and Paul Whittington of
Baton Rouge served on the Problem Solving/Poster Sessions planning committee. Larson and
Annie Henry of Amite met with the committee planning student presentations at next year's
convention in Panama City, while Gabe Gorenflo and Brandi Sullivan of New Orleans met with
the Student Division Awards committee and John Ferguson of Baton Rouge participated in the
Student Division Membership committee.
     Ivy Jeansonne, a member of the university's Industrial Technology Advisory Committee, 
contributed $1,000 toward the students' convention expenses.
