SOUTHEASTERN CHANNEL SHOW FOCUSES ON NORTH SHORE CURRENT AFFAIRS
HAMMOND –  “Northshore Focus,” a new talk show about current affairs on the north shore, will air at 8 p.m. Wednesday night (Nov. 17) on the Southeastern Channel, Southeastern Louisiana University ’s educational television access channel on Charter Cable Channel 18.
The 30-minute roundtable program, produced by the channel, will also air at 8 p.m. Wednesdays, 1:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 12:30 p.m. Sundays.
“This program will feature stimulating discussion about important issues, public affairs and politics on the north shore,” said Rick Settoon, general manager of the Southeastern Channel and the show’s producer. “It will deal with matters important to viewers in each of the north shore parishes and provide a forum for public officials to address these key issues.”
Settoon said that program guests will include elected officials, political experts, journalists, and other public figures and newsmakers from Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, Livingston and Washington parishes.
The first episode features analysis of recent elections and their impact on Louisiana and the north shore parishes. The roundtable includes Mandeville resident and political expert Jeff Crouere, host of the New Orleans television program “Ringside: Politics with a Punch” and political columnist for “BayouBuzz” and “CityBusiness” publications.
Also participating will be a pair of Southeastern political science faculty members. Kurt Corbello is an expert on Louisiana politics and conducts the highly-regarded Southeastern Poll. Peter Petrakis teaches a university course on the presidency and is an expert on congressional races.
The show host and moderator is Steve Bellas, a Southeastern graduate and communication department professor. Bellas is also currently a television journalist for ABC26 in New Orleans and served 22 years as news and weather anchor for WDSU-TV, the New Orleans NBC affiliate.
Settoon said a new episode of “Northshore Focus” will be produced each month.
