SLU CHAMBER ORCHESTRA CONCERT SCHEDULED APRIL 28
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Chamber Orchestra's April 28
concert will feature works by Britten, Bach, Beethoven and Gershwin as well as a number of solo
performances.
The orchestra, conducted by Southeastern music professor Yakov Voldman, will perform
at 7:30 p.m. in SLU's Pottle Music Building Auditorium.
The concert's first half will spotlight solos by Jennifer Odom, a senior from Mosselle,
Miss; Southeastern alumnus Diane Pulte, originally of Gainesville, Texas, and Linda Miller of
Mandeville.
Odom will perform a piece by Bach, while Pulte will sing four songs by Verdi. Miller's
selections are by Gershwin, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the American composer's birth.
In the second half of the concert, Southeastern music professor and pianist Willis Delony
will join graduate students Miroslav Hristov, violin, and Dmitri Vychko, cello, in Beethoven's
"Triple Concerto in C."
The orchestra also will perform Gershwin's Lullaby and the overture from Austrian
composer Franz Von Suppe's operetta, "Light Cavalry."
For additional information about the concert, call 504-549-2184.
