SOUTHEASTERN ORCHESTRA TO PERFORM NOV. 5
HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Orchestra, conducted by Dr.
Yakov Voldman, will perform works by Vivaldi, Mozart and Wagner Nov. 5 at the Pottle Music
Building Auditorium.
The 7:30 p.m. concert is free to the public. Soloists will include Southeastern faculty
members Mark Auffarth, trumpet; Jerry Voorhees, bassoon, and Harry Watters, trombone;
graduate students Alexander Reshetnichenko, violin, and Dmitri Vychko, cello, and Strings
Academy student Andrew Robin, violin.
Tulane University pianist Faina Lushtyak will be a guest soloist, performing Mozart's
Concerto in C Major, No. 21.
Robin, a seventh grader at Trafton Academy and student of Dr. Voldman, is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Robin of Hammond. He will perform the "Presto" movement of Vivaldi's
"Concerto in A Minor, Op. 3 No. 6.
Auffarth and Watters, who both joined the Southeastern music department faculty this
fall, will solo in Vivaldi's Concerto in C Major, Op. 46, No. 1. Voorhees, a veteran member of
the faculty, will perform in Vivaldi's Concerto in B flat Major, Op. 45 No. 8 ("La Notte").
Reshetnichenko and Vychko, who are from Voldman's native Moldova, are soloists in Vivaldi's
Concerto in F Major.
In addition to the soloists, orchestra members are:
First violin -- Lauren Davis, Renia Madura, Nikola Takov, Blagomira Paskaleva, John
Madura, G. Warren Smith, Rita Dottor, Amy Tavidian, and Jeanne Gillespie.
